It’s always a tough choice between wide angle and not so wide angle lenses. Wide angle lenses are very good to capture the entire scene, but you are going to lose some details since you are cramming more viewing angles into the same size image sensor. It also means you need to deal with losing sharpness around the corners. Sure! there will always be an ultimate lens does it all! But my limited depth of pocket probably just isn’t going to cut it. Unless someone sponsor me of course 🙂
Anyway! Back to the topic..
These tests are trying to find the balance of color and sharpness on both lenses. I have to say Pentax came a long way to make DA line-up appealing. Lens construction fits the bill, image sharpness and color rendering are not bad either! Although I prefer FA series for the manual focus handling and sharpness, but You can see the color differences between them.
Over years I’ve been experienced with all kinds of brands, cameras, and lenses. I love the balance between craftsmanship, price, building quality and image quality. My gear of choice is always powerhouse camera, out of this world performance lenses, and a bit of better angle of taking photo “NEXT TIME”.. Which, I ironed out the possibility of been “bad photos is always gears’ fault”.
Needless to say, I love small cameras with tiny lenses that works wonders. They might not be a working horse to track down a bullet speed train or “BIGGER THE BETTER” lenses if that is what she says.. Often times, the render of image comes in a price is inevitable, but we can’t always trust name brand = quality as a norm. Hence, over years, I mixed all my love and hate, I picked up the weapon of choices for myself. Not for others, but for moei.
It doesn’t come to surprise that I have more than enough cameras and lenses in my past even I am just a hobbyist. My weapons of choice in APS-C DSLR would no doubt to be Pentax DSLRs. When it comes to travel in lightweight. I forced myself to move into MirrorLess Interchangeable systems. Here I found SONY NEX, and A7(R) to be the suitable solution.
But I didn’t forget about the fundamentals! Good enough camera is one thing, but lenses are equally important as the camera itself! I will not forget, it’s not just the camera that makes the magic, but also the lenses!!! LENSES are the one that really makes everything happens magically! YEAH! my lenses are pooping rainbows like nyan cat or the kidneyless unicorn Charlie.
Every lens I have owned have their special magic around them. They are probably not from the MTF20/50 to be the sharpest lenses in the world. They may not be the one cost 10x more than others because it has a red circle with Leica white print in it. They probably can’t make images that you can view Jessica Alba in 3D. To me, they are awesome lenses!! AWESOME can’t describe how good they are in real daily shooting situations. I’ll leave that thought up to you because you might use google to search reviews already! That’s just not what I am trying to say here.. I love them because they are AWESOME!! Like a father loves his kids, the unconditional love!
